Khalid Rahman’s Sports Comedy Alappuzha Gymkhana Set for April 10 Release
The much-awaited Malayalam sports comedy Alappuzha Gymkhana, directed by Khalid Rahman, is all set to hit the big screens globally on April 10. Featuring Naslen in the lead role, the announcement of the film’s release date came on April 2, during the launch event of the movie’s second song, Panchara Punch.
The film’s theatrical debut is expected to spark a tough box office battle, as it goes head-to-head with some big releases including Maranamass starring Basil Joseph and Bazooka featuring Mammootty. Adding to the competition is L2: Empuraan, a high-octane thriller directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, which has been performing exceptionally well since its release last month.
What is Alappuzha Gymkhana About?
The story follows Jojo Johnson, a 19-year-old teenager wrestling with an identity crisis and caught in complex love triangles. In a bid to earn grace marks, Jojo unexpectedly enters a state-level boxing competition. Guided by the tough yet supportive coach Joshua, Jojo and his group of underdog classmates begin an emotional and physical transformation. From total novices to serious contenders, they face both external challenges and personal insecurities as the championship looms.
The film is a feel-good tale packed with humor, struggles, friendship, and self-growth, all wrapped in the energetic world of youth boxing.

The makers also revealed the release date through a social media post on Instagram, which read:

Cast and Crew
Naslen leads the cast as Jojo Johnson, supported by Lukman Avaran, Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, Noila Francy, Nanda Nishanth, Baby Jean, and Ganapathi. The story was crafted by Khalid Rahman and Sreeni Saseendran, with dialogues written by Ratheesh Ravi. The film’s visual storytelling is brought to life by cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, while the music is composed by Vishnu Vijay.
The movie is jointly produced by Khalid Rahman, Sameer Karat, Jobin George, and Subeesh Kannanchery.
Plot Summary
The heart of Alappuzha Gymkhana lies in the journey of a group of students who, after failing their final school exams, attempt to secure college admission through the sports quota. What begins as a desperate plan soon turns into a transformative journey as they dive into the world of amateur boxing.
